Research Experience
I have had the opportunity to pursue research projects with a special focus on Finite Element Analysis. This further bolstered my interest in computational mechanics as well, in addition to pursuing design projects.
Finite Difference Modeling of moving heat source problems in MATLAB
September 2017 - March 2018
Theoretical modeling of friction stir welding process and study of heat generation and temperature profiles using MATLAB.
Developed as a team of 4, a finite difference solver to model the friction stir welding process without using pre existing software. Solved the 3-D heat generation differential equation and obtained a 3-D plot of the temperature profile of a friction stir welded plate in MATLAB.
GraFea : Edge based approach to Finite Element Analysis
June 2017 - August 2017
Was selected to be a summer research fellow under the Indian Institute of Technology - Madras Summer Research Fellowship Program, department of Applied Mechanics and worked on "GraFea : Edge based approach to Finite Element Analysis" under the guidance of Dr. Sivakumar M S.
Worked on a new approach to existing finite element formulations that was based on stretches as the fundamental variable as opposed to displacements. This has further applications in non local behavior of solids.
